If you read my tea and coffee post you will remember I mentioned my mate giving me a big bag of tea bags, coffee, and hot chocolate. So I have loads but I couldnt resist tonight's bargain. I was wondering around Morrisons looking for a birthday pressie for my Mum who had just "reminded me" its her birthday tommorow. I found myself in the tea and coffee aisle and was drawn to a POS (point of sale, the sign on the shelf) stating the words "Save even more. There were a number of prices crossed out, but it was the "now 50p" bit that hooked me in. This was the 220g tubs of Options hot chocolate. The rrp is £2.50- £3, so 50p was a genuine deal. It was only the limited edition flavour, turkish delight (soinds lush) that was 50p, a clearence line. You see that when a product is being discontinued. You find certain flavours/varieties are price cut to clear them. Other flavours of the same product are full price do be careful. Ive seen bags of chips for 9p before as a clearence line. Sometimes you dont even get a big offer sign, it can just be a bog standard shrlf label with a very low price on it. Products are normally well in date, just discontinued by the store or manufacturer. This can be annoying if you come to love the product and will struggle to find more of it in the future. Still, a good way to save cash!
This time, with the hot chocolate, I was faced with an empty shelf under sign. Had it all gone? Bring very tall has its uses, I had a root around the shelf and found two 50p tubs hidden behind the full price tubs. One for me, one for my mum. (no that isnt her birthday present. Im cheap, but not that cheap. What can I say I like to keep my Options open when shopping
