We all have mobiles these days. I recall my Uncle getting his first phone in the 90s. This was a brick with a nice telesopic ariel attatched to it. He was ringing me to say he was speaking to me from the top of a big hill with no wires. He was amazed, I was amazed too!! Fast forward a couple of decades and the mobile phone has taken over our lives. People are so attatched to their handsets that to leave it at home when you go out would bring them out in a nasty sweat and may result in some sort of breakdown. What I'm getting at here is the fact we love our mobile phone. We also love apps. Seriously there is an app for everything. Have you come across the "Bowel Movement Diary App? Almost as moving as Adrian Moles Diary only a bit more sh*t.
How about using that techical marvel to make you money? It can be done honestly and legally! A while ago; I told you about Vox Pop Me, where you record video responses on your phone to various questions and get paid 30-40p per video. I'm just about at my £10 "cash out via pay pal" amout now, my second cash out!
I was browzing the facebook page of Extreme Couponing UK, run by coupon wizz kid Jordon Cox. Jordon is famous for using coupons to get massive savings on groceries and always shares his tips on his facebook page. I love checking out his Facebook page, I have even interviewed Jordon on my radio show. This guy is a bargain hunters guru! So, anyway; I was reading posts about "Cash Back Apps". Sounds simple you download the app, check out the offers, buy a certain product instore, snap till reciept and barcode and get paid the set amout per item. New territory on me but worth a download I thought!
Apps to look for for cash back include "Shopizie" and "Check Out Smart". I downloaded both and went shopping
The first deal I had a go with was free Birdseye fish and chicken. I found the products in Morrisons and submitted my reciept via Check Out Smart and got 100 percent refund in the end. There was an issue with me not being refunded enough but this was sorted quickly and the remainder credited to me after a quick enail to Checkout Smart. Other offers ive seen and used include Weight Watchers Yogurts that were on offer for a quid in asda . 60p cadh back, meaning I get 4 yogurts for 40p. And Weoght Watchers too Healthy for my wallet and my belly! I even got paid 4p to have my cake and eat thanks to an "Exceedingly good" £1 back on 96p Mr Kipling cakes. The offers change weekly. Some are good some not so good but I have made around £7 - £10 on each app in a week. Not bad going huh?
Sometimes there are offers like buy any 4pint milk and get £1 cash back, meaning free milk!! you can even earn 25p just for uploading any recipt from specified shops. These are normally the big 4, and the coperative, and occasionaly Lidal and Aldi. Some offers can be used multiple times, others once only. It's all it the Ts& Cs. A few points to make here though. Items reduced to clear don't count (sadly) and make sure you buy exactly the stated product. Shopizite has a built in barcode scanner so you can scan the product in the store to check its the right one. Despite this I ended up buying the wrong sized pack of biscuits so no cash back on that! On the whole the customer service on these apps is great. Issues are dealt with quickly and effectivly.
Of the apps I have tried, I find Shopizite the best as it is quicker when it comes to processing recipts and payment. Checkout smart can be a bit slower. Shopizite let you cash out at £5, Checkout Smart has no minimum amount but charges a 5 percent fee on amouts under £20. All in all its pretty much money for nothing and some offers tend to be on everyday products that you might buy anyway, if not then maybe a nice way to try new products? Of course also a great way to save for Christmas, letting the cash back build up until you need it. The trick is to use an app like My Supermarket Superlist (this offers cash back too) You can use this to check where products are cheapest meaning you get the most savings from the cash back app. Sometimes you can get cadh back on more than one app on the same product, and you can use in conjunction with all offers and shop coupons so potential for amazing savings here. It's all about planning and shopping around. If a product is on offer from say £2 down to £1 and the cash back offer is £1 you will be tecnicly getting the item for free. Worth doing a bit of homework here.
Free Apps to download (From Google Play, Im running a Samsung Galaxy S3)
